Harvey Norman Warehouse Sale

One their way to a wedding reception this morning, my parents noticed that Harvey Norman was having a warehouse sale. The place is only 10 minutes drive from our house (that’s the advantage of staying in an industrial area! I remember going crazy at Cadbury warehouse sales. We’d buy lots and lots of chocolate and finish them in a few days  ) so they decided to come home first before going there again to look for TWO items; a vacuum cleaner and a microwave oven.

Mama didn’t feel like going out again so me and Boka were dragged along by Ba’ah to help him carry the boxes.

Needless to say, the main attraction at the event was the HD-TVs. MANY people were seen carrying huge boxes that without doubt contained one of the big TVs.

Even Ba’ah was initially distracted by the TVs on sale despite having just bought a new one himself in September 2008). How could he not? The TV area was strategically located at the entrance of the tents and covered a huge proportion of the allocated sales area.

I think Ba’ah almost drooled at the 7.1 Blu-Ray home theatre system.

.

We were looking for a bagless vacuum cleaner but the one on sale was not bagless. Me and Ba’ah were discussing whether or not to buy a unit when one person after another grabbed a box from a stack of about 5 in front of us. The discussion actually took us about a minute or two and by the time we were done, there was only ONE box left. The salesperson laughed, “There’s only one left…”

We took the last one.

Boka was gone and Ba’ah was happy enough to carry the bills so I had to carry both boxes to the cashiers. :(

While we were queueing to pay for our purchases, I looked at the people crowding a row of tables opposite the cashiers. “Hey, Ba’ah! Look! Cameras!”

“Don’t tempt me…” he warned.

.

With the payments done, I made my way (again, carrying both boxes) to the exit where I saw Boka waiting for us because Ba’ah said he wanted to look for something else.

He suddenly reappeared and casually asked, “Aren’t you guys buying anything?”

Errmmm.. First of all, we don’t need anything that could be found there (yet). Secondly, even if we did need anything, we didn’t have the money. Thirdly, we didn’t even want to go to start with. We only went to help carry the boxes.

I’m not complaining. I had a McD meal (McD because it’s just across the main road) for late lunch. Ba’ah’s treat. :D

All pictures courtesy of Ba’ah who took them using his phone because none of us remembered to bring our cameras.
